Deutsche Post’s subsidiary DHL Home Delivery is set for an agreement with the German postal andtransport union Verdi after offering a wage increase of 2.5% for its 1,600 employees in the fourth
round of negotiations. The offer follows last week’s strike threat by Verdi and local warning strikes in Bremen afterthe two parties had failed to come to an agreement in a third round of negotiations on 5-6thSeptember. This was due to DHL offering the Home Delivery staff a one-off payment of only €100while the union was seeking a 6.5% wage increase for a one-year labour contract.
Andrea Kocsis, Verdi deputy chairwoman and head of its postal and logistics section, said: “Thisis a substantial improvement and therefore a really good offer.”
The union will now seek members’ views on the offer. The deadline for finalising the labouragreement was set for 11 October 2013.
The new linear wage increase of 2.5% would come into effect on 1 January 2014 with a durationperiod of 20 months, valid until 31 March 2015.
