GLS raises prices in France by nearly 4% next month

GLS

GLS France will increase its prices for domestic and international deliveries by an average of3.9% as of 1 October, 2013, to compensate for rising costs.

In addition, the parcel operator’s ‘road safety charge’ will rise to €0.36 per parcel.

GLS explained that despite the general economic recovery in the euro zone, the French transportmarket is still coping with the impact of the recession. With the price increase, the company isreacting to the significant rise in shipping costs over the last few months.

At the same time, GLS France stressed that it continues to invest in the expansion of itsnationwide parcel network, optimisation of delivery routes as well as equipping all sites with thecompany-owned video surveillance system Uni-Video.

Moreover, the company is also adjusting to the challenges of the market by strengthening its B2Cbusiness with new delivery options to attract private recipients.

“We are following the investment strategy of the GLS Group,” said Emeric Bastid, ManagingDirector GLS France. “In doing so, we offer our customers a continuously high service quality.”

GLS France, based in Toulouse, has a network of nine hubs and 85 branches, and operates 335long-distance trucks and 2,130 delivery vehicles.
