DHL delivers new Formula E electric car racing championship

DHL transports Formula E racing cars

DHL has partnered with the new FIA Formula E Championship in a multi-year global partnershiplaunching the world’s first fully-electric car racing series that will begin in September 2014.

The new championship features single-seater, open-wheel cars powered exclusively by electricenergy. DHL will provide an extensive range of logistics services incorporating the most efficientand green technology and processes available today. For ten race locations worldwide, it willensure timely and safe delivery of all racing cars, spare parts and lithium-ion batteries.

The partnership was announced today at the presentation of the first two Formula E racing cars ‘Spark-Renault SRT_01E’ at the International Automotive Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, afterbeing transported from Paris by DHL as the official logistics and founding partner of FormulaE.

“All emissions created by this transportation will be offset via investments in DHL’s GoGreenportfolio of certified international climate protection projects,” Roger Crook, CEO DHL GlobalForwarding, Freight, said.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of championship promoters Formula E Holdings, added: “The logistics side ofour championship presents a great opportunity to showcase how to transport 40 cars and allassociated elements while minimising the carbon footprint of the operation. The strategy is notjust offsetting. First, we will look at minimising the emissions, and whatever is left, we willoffset in order to be a carbon neutral championship.”
