Geodis Calberson to expand in north-eastern France

Parcels and freight operator Geodis Calberson has started construction work on a new depot inVermois, close to Nancy in north-eastern France, expanding its capacity in the region.

The new facilities will be larger and more modern than the current location, tripling theoperational area from 4,500 sqm to 12,000 sqm. This will result in more than 13,000 parcels beinghandled daily, ranging from agricultural parts to pharmaceutical products. The construction worksare due to be completed in March 2014.

“This new platform offers a direct connection with the French and international networks. Ourrole is to support the economic development of the Lorraine region,” said Charles-Louis de Vogue,Geodis Regional Director for Champagne Ardenne East.

Geodis Calberson said the new site is part of the company’s commitment to continuously improvingcustomer satisfaction. It follows the recent opening of two other facilities.

In July, Geodis opened a new, 32,000 sqm logistics centre in Hamburg, northern Germany,dedicated exclusively to major mass market distribution and e-commerce retailers, with 300 staff tobe employed at the site during peak periods. In June, Geodis Calberson opened a new larger depotnear Bordeaux, south-western France, for its express business France Express.
