DHL Freight speeds ahead

DHL is upgrading its road freight services in Europe with today’s launch of the ‘Eurapid’service offering daily departures, scheduled day-definite deliveries and priority treatment to help

customers simplify their logistics and supply chains.

The new service covers 14 countries, with more to be added in the coming months, and covers LTLshipments from a single package to multi-pallets weighing up to 2.5 tonnes.

DHL Freight’s main existing LTL product for groupage, palletised and non-palletised cargo, DHLEuroconnect, offers daily frequencies between major European business centres as well asday-definite and time-definite delivery options on selected routes but otherwise only offers “highreliable door-to-door lead times”.

Amadou Diallo, CEO DHL Freight, explained: “Our customers want higher frequencies, proactivecustomer service and extremely reliable delivery execution for advanced supply chain concepts.Short product life cycles, for example in the Technology or Fashion and Apparel business, furtheradd to this growing demand. For this reason, DHL has now launched Eurapid, providing customers witha day-definite commitment and easy to use solution.”

DHL Freight described Eurapid as a “high-quality service offering day-definite lead times andpriority treatment for less-than-truckload shipments”, incorporating full end-to-end visibility andsimple rate cards, that enabled customers “to connect their business with key markets acrossEurope”.

The new service is already available in 14 countries including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic,Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and theUK. It thus covers the highest GDP areas in Europe and 74% of the region’s export/import tradevolumes. Additional areas will be connected to the network in the upcoming months.

Eurapid shipments are treated with priority, resulting in highly competitive lead times forcustomers, DHL explained. Shipments can be tracked via the DHL Activetracing smartphone app and areshipped according to fixed timetables.

The service team constantly monitors on-time delivery andproactively informs customers to ensure the highest level of shipment transparency.
