UK Mail is further expanding its operational network with a new depot in Aldershot in southernEngland, in response to growing parcel volumes while creating new jobs in the region.
To be opened in autumn this year, the new facility is expected to double UK Mail’s capacity inthe area replacing the existing depot in nearby Camberley in response to a considerable increase inB2B and B2C deliveries boosted by online retailers.
Guy Buswell, UK Mail’s CEO, said: “Our daily parcel volumes have increased by 25% compared tothe same period last year, this is largely driven by the increase in home deliveries related toonline shopping and we’re expecting the e-commerce industry to continue to grow. Delivery iscrucial in the e-retailing sector and the investment into new infrastructure will ensure wecontinue to deliver successfully. The new Aldershot depot will improve our access to the motorwaynetwork as well as increase our capacity to handle the growing volume of parcels we have beenexperiencing in the area.”
In preparation for the peak period, more drivers are due to be recruited at the new site whichwill help tackle unemployment in the region.
“With the addition of the new site and the impending peak period upon us we will of course bepushing forward to create more jobs in the local area to ensure we meet the demands from ourcustomers and maintain our very high service standards,” Buswell confirmed.
