Eesti Post raises half-year revenues on growing parcel volumes

Estonian postal operator Eesti Post was able to increase its revenues by 6% to €26.3 millionduring the first half of this year thanks to parcel volume growth of 33%.

The company’s growth was additionally driven by e-services (e-invoicing) and advertisingservices which also recorded double-digit growth of 24% and 16% respectively. The amount ofdocuments sent electronically through Eesti Post’s mailing centre has increased by almost 80 times.However, Eesti Post’s mail volumes declined by 8% as a result of digital substitution.

Last year, Eesti Post delivered nearly 31 million letters and 2 million parcels, making a profitof €2.52 million which was double the figure in 2011. The company made a profit of €0.7 million inthe first half of this year.

Aavo Kärmas, Chairman of the Board at Eesti Post, confirmed that the results were as expectedand highlighted the need for the company to further expand its operations in Estonia and the BalticStates as a whole. “Eesti Post wants to be a leader of e-commerce in the Baltics. We want toprovide online shops as well as best solutions that would contribute to the development ofe-commerce. This year, we have already expanded the network of our parcel lockers and will increasethe number of these lockers by a half over the next few months,” he said.

Eesti Post stressed that it wants to make parcel services in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania aseasy and accessible as possible. Along with Post24 parcel lockers, Eesti Post has more than 500shipping and receiving points in the Baltics. From March this year, customers can send and receiveparcels both domestically and between all three Baltic states.

The state-owned postal operator employs 2,550 staff. The Eesti Post Group comprises the parentcompany AS Eesti Post and its subsidiaries Estonian E-Invoicing Centre Ltd., EP-24 UAB, UnipakasUAB in Lithuania and Post24 SIA in Latvia.
