GraysOnline CEO Cameron Poolman

Australia’s largest logistics provider, Toll Group, has boosted its new B2C parcel deliveryservice by winning a contract to deliver online orders for GraysOnline, one of Australia’s largest

online retailers, starting in September.

The partnership with GraysOnline marks the largest piece of work to date for Toll ConsumerDelivery, the dedicated online parcel delivery service launched last year. The contract value wasnot disclosed.

Toll, which competes mostly with Australia Post in the B2C sector, claims to have about 7% ofthe market so far and said the GraysOnline contract would boost that share “significantly”. Thepartnership with GraysOnline will also see Grays become a preferred auction partner for Toll.

GraysOnline, offering a broad range of consumer, industrial and commercial goods direct frommanufacturers and distributors, sells more than 120,000 items every month via auction and fixedprice format, and has over 1.2 million visitors to its website each month.

GraysOnline CEO Cameron Poolman said Toll’s ability to service customers across its extensivenational network was a major drawcard. “Toll’s partnering approach, their innovative serviceofferings and their national network is second-to-none, and we believe together we will be able tooffer a great delivery experience for our customers,” he said.

Toll Consumer Delivery offers deliveries to homes across Australia or alternatively to a nearby ‘ Nparcel’ outlet, a collection and drop-off point operated by local newsagents through apartnership with the Victorian Association of Newsagents (VANA).

Toll Group Managing Director Brian Kruger said he was excited to be partnering with one ofAustralia’s top online retail and auction companies. “It’s encouraging to see two industry-leadingcompanies joining forces to improve the online retail experience,” he said. “We know it is a growtharea, so offering the best possible customer delivery experience is crucial if we want to stayahead. We will work with GraysOnline to improve further, and we hope to announce some more excitingservice improvements next year.”

Kruger said although Toll launched Toll Consumer Delivery last year, it has been providinghigh-volume express services to individual consumers for nearly a decade. The company also hasaround 30% of Australia’s B2B express market.

The contract follows Toll’s recent announcement of construction starting on the largest freightsorting facility in Australia in Sydney, allowing for decades of future growth in the expressparcel delivery market. The $170 million development adds to Toll’s investments over the past fewyears including a $54 million express road freight terminal in Perth, a $39 million facility inBrisbane and a $10 million terminal in Canberra.
