British parcels company Yodel has rung the final bell on Home Delivery Network Ltd (HDNL) bychanging its official company name to its trading brand.
The privately-owned firm, which has traded under the ‘Yodel’ brand-name since May 2010, hasofficially re-named itself as Yodel Delivery Network Limited instead of Home Delivery NetworkLimited.
“In order to support the development of the Yodel brand identity, we have taken the decisionto change the company name of Home Delivery Network Limited to Yodel Delivery Network Limited, withimmediate effect,” the company stated.
HDNL, one of Britain’s leading B2C delivery companies, embarked on its new identity in early2010 when it acquired the loss-making UK domestic parcels business of DHL Express which wanted toquit the market to re-focus on its time-definite express core business. Shortly after the takeover,HDNL announced that it would trade under the new name of Yodel, based on the slogan ‘Your delivery, your call’, and started to roll out the brand on vehicles in late 2010.
Over the last three years, Yodel has restructured its network by merging the former HDNL andDHL Domestic operations, closing 45 service centres in the process, and focused on improvingits operational efficiency and performance. In February 2013 the company appointed changemanagement expert Neil Lloyd as chief executive.
Yodel, with a peak season workforce of 16,000, handles 150 million parcels per year on behalfof the majority of the UK’s top retailers.
