Austrian firm KEBA has beaten off rival suppliers to win a Swiss Post contract for an initial 40parcel terminals and the prospect of a substantial order after that.
KEBA confirmed that it will be the supplier of the 40 MyPost 24 terminals which Swiss Postordered in May and will install from this autumn onwards. The contract value was not disclosed.
Swiss Post executives said last month that the 40 parcel machines would be installed at busyconsumer locations to offer alternative delivery points, with the initial machines to be located inZurich and Bern. In 2014, a nationwide rollout is planned that could see some 200-250 self-servicemachines installed, depending on how the new technology is accepted. This investment is likely tocost a high single-digit million euro sum.
Krystian Lasek, Swiss Post’s head of Parcel Business and Process Development and the My Post 24project customer, said: “Swiss Post has a reputation as a quality supplier and in KEBA we havefound the ideal partner, as the company also focuses on technological innovations that aresimultaneously of the highest standard, reliable and safe. KEBA’s commitment and the qualitydemonstrated during the tendering process mean that Swiss Post is convinced that together we cansecure the future success of this project.”
The KEBA parcel machines were subjected to rigorous testing during an internal pilot scheme.Lasek explained: “During the pilot run, our employees received a total of 1,000 test packages viathe parcel automats.” The result was clear, as owing to their outstanding quality, the KePolmachines outstripped the competition and thus KEBA was able to secure the initial order.
In addition, the fact that KEBA not only supplies the hardware but also hosts the software anddata ensures a high level of security. The Austrian firm said the fulfilment of the client’s strictsecurity requirements also contributed to winning the contract.
Michael Landl, KEBA AG’s International Sales Director Banking and Service Automation, wasdelighted by the order: “The fact that from the autumn our Swiss neighbours will be using KEBAparcel automats is especially pleasing. It also shows us again that quality and experience canprevail. In addition, we have once more received definitive confirmation that we are on the righttrack with our innovative products.”
With over 3,000 KePol parcel automats, KEBA has the world’s largest installation basis. Most arelocated in Germany where they operate as DHL Packstations while the rest have been installed invarious other countries in Europe and worldwide.
