DHL Express is delivering faster to and from Taiwan after launching a new B767-300 freighterservice between Taipei and Nagoya in Japan and Incheon, South Korea.
The new overnight service, which started earlier this month to mark DHL’s 40th anniversary inTaiwan, has improved intra-Asia and US connections and improved transit times significantly, thecompany said. The new triangular route between Taiwan, Japan and Korea seamlessly connects Taiwanwith other Asian Pacific countries.
The new Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft in DHL’s red and yellow livery, which is operated byDHL partner airline Polar Air Cargo Worldwide, has capacity for 55 tonnes.
The flight connects to a daily direct overnight service between Nagoya and DHL’s North Americaair hub in Cincinnati. As a result, DHL customers in Taiwan benefit from a one day improvement intransit time when they ship to US, Canada and Latin America. Inbound service from these origins toTaiwan has also been improved due to DHL’s dedicated trans-Pacific direct flights.
Chee Yaw Chek, General Manager, DHL Express Taiwan, said: “With the introduction of the newflights, 90% of our customers can look forward to later shipment handover times when shipping tothe US. We are extending cut-off time for pick-ups of US-bound shipments by up to four hours in themetropolitan areas.
“Additionally, these service enhancements will enable next-day delivery to the US for alllocations serviced by DHL in Taiwan. For time-sensitive goods, such as high-tech products and partsthat Taiwan is known for, our enhanced network services provide the ideal solution to thesecustomers. In addition to these immediate benefits, our investment will provide a platform forcontinued growth throughout the entire Asia Pacific region.”
According to Ministry of Finance statistics, Taiwan’s export volume has grown by 22% over thepast 5 years, driven by increased trade with other Asian countries.
DHL Express, which started operations in Taiwan in 1973, has nearly 1,000 employees there, allof whom are Certified International Specialists. The company says it is the market leader on Taiwanand has a thorough understanding of the local market.
