GLS Netherlands increased its freight volumes to Belgium and Luxemburg by a strong 27% and
GLS handles cargo in the Benelux countries in a specialised system separated from its parcelnetwork thus offering delivery times within 24 hours and a consistently high quality in the overallregion. “This is our big advantage on the market and the shippers appreciate it,” Milo Kars,General Manager GLS Netherlands, said. “The demand for our freight services to Belgium andLuxemburg has strongly increased despite the declining economic trend.”
During the 2012-13 year, GLS managed to further standardise the shipping processes in theBenelux region with more direct deliveries to Belgian depots and the transnational harmonisation ofits quality management. As a result, 98% of the shipments destined for the economic centres inBelgium and Luxemburg arrive on the next working day which is also the case for shipments withinthe Netherlands, with the rate for more remote regions being just slightly lower.
“More and more customers discover how convenient it is to being able to ship everything with us,from a 100 g parcel to a complete pallet payload,” Kars explained. No matter the product, theshipper has a personal contact partner he can turn to. If requested, GLS can pick up freight, parcels and express shipments at the same time. In addition, the shipping systems are suitable forall shipment types which make it easier to organise.
Dutch GLS customers also have shipped considerably more freight to other parts of Europe thanduring the previous year. “With volume growth of over 20%, we stood up to fierce competition,” Karsadded. Outside from the Benelux region, GLS cooperates with selected freight partners ensuringshort transit times.
