UPS expands services to and from new EU member Croatia

UPS has expanded its services to and from Croatia following the country’s accession to theEuropean Union as its 28th member to profit from the elimination of trade barriers.

With the aim of creating a uniform portfolio of shipping options across all EU member states,UPS is introducing new shipping options and other value-added services for customers shipping toand from Croatia so they can access global markets more efficiently.

As shipping procedures have been standardised with the elimination of trade barriers, shipmentsbetween Croatia and other EU countries can be processed more easily without the need for additionaldocumentation, UPS stressed.

Express shipments from EU countries can now be delivered to Croatia in one business day. Forless urgent shipments into the country, customers can use a reliable and economical, day-definiteshipping option UPS Standard while also profiting from new value-added services that give them morecontrol over their goods. These include expanded UPS Returns services to help them better managereverse logistics and the UPS Collect-on-Delivery (COD) service reducing risk and enhancing cashflow for the shipper.

“The expansion of the EU internal market to Croatia represents new opportunities for businessesshipping into and out of the country,” Cindy Miller, president, UPS Europe, said. “Robust exportsand international trade are sources of growth, and UPS is well-positioned and ready to helpcompanies in Croatia and all over Europe take advantage of Croatia’s EU entry.”

For goods being sent out of Croatia, UPS Standard is now available for shipments to other EUcountries complementing existing UPS Express services available from the country. The combinationof both provides Croatian shippers with a comprehensive range of time-in-transit options, allowingthem to fully balance speed and costs.

“UPS has been active and successful in helping Croatian shippers access world markets for morethan 20 years,” Miller added. “And, we are definitely looking forward to meeting the evolving needsof customers doing business to and from this new EU market for decades to come.”
