Purolator Tackles Hunger with over 400,000 pounds of food raised in one week

Purolator tackles hunger across Canada

Canadian express parcels operator Purolator surpassed its goal of raising 400,000 pounds of foodand funds for local food banks across the country during its annual Tackle Hunger Week from 3-7

June for the 11th season in a row.

This year, more than 12,000 Purolator employees as well as the company’s partners, agents andcustomers donated the equivalent of 411,000 pounds of food to 165 local food banks across Canadawhich represents a 6% year increase compared to last year.

“We are thrilled with the results achieved thus far and are confident we will meet our goal of1.1 million pounds of food in our 11th season of Purolator Tackle Hunger,” Ramsey Mansour,Purolator’s Vice President of Marketing, said. “The needs of our communities are significant andgrowing. So it’s incredible to see how our more than 12,000 teammates and over 450 Purolator andcustomer locations have stepped up to the challenge and come together to help give back to thosewho need it most.”

Since its launch in 2003, the Purolator Tackle Hunger (PTH) Week campaign has helped delivermore than 5.9 million pounds of food to local food banks across Canada.

“Purolator Tackle Hunger continues to make an impact on the lives of the almost 900,000Canadians who rely on food banks every month, raising almost six million pounds of food andconsumer goods for local food banks over the past 11 years,” Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director,Food Banks Canada, said. “We look forward to continuing this important partnership as we worktogether to tackle hunger.”

Following the PTH Week, the annual PTH programme will now start to make its way across Canada,holding Game Day food drives at nine Canadian Football League (CFL) games throughout the season. Atthese games, fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or a cash donation to helpsupport their local food banks. In return, they have the chance to get their digital picture takenwith the Grey Cup.
