Geodis signs three-year logistics contract with LG Electronics in Italy

Geodis Logistics has signed a major three-year agreement with LG Electronics, a global leader inconsumer electronics, mobile communications and home appliances, to manage its logistics activities

and road transport in Italy.

As part of the contract, Geodis Logistics will use its own 250,000 sqm park in Castel SanGiovanni, near Milan. Some 40 staff will be dedicated to the contract, whose value was notdisclosed.

The Castel San Giovanni site, which is dedicated to upstream and downstream logistics for themain market sectors such as automotive, fashion and consumer goods, will now also handle LGElectronics activities providing a wide range of logistics and transport services. It will managemore than 144,000 m³ of home entertainment, business solutions, home appliances, air conditioningand mobile communication products made by LG Electronics.

The service proposal Geodis has created for LG Electronics consists of warehousing, inbound,outbound and distribution through Geodis Züst Ambrosetti’s network to the final customer. Geodiswill put in place quality control services for incoming products and also take over activitiesrelated to labelling, checking, testing and repackaging.

In addition, Geodis will transport and deliver 120,000 outbound parcels per year with LGElectronics products throughout Italy. These activities will be combined with reverse logisticsservices comprising return management, taking back appliances, repair, refurbishing anddismantling.
