PostNord broadens logistics portfolio through more Nordic acquisitions

PostNord has finalised the acquisitions of Bilfrakt Bothnia subsidiaries Nordisk Kyl Logistik (NKL)and Transbothnia as part of its strategy to become the largest player in the Nordic logistics

market.

“The acquisitions broaden our logistics business in Sweden with mixed cargo, consignmentgoods and thermo and further strengthen our position in the growing Nordic logistics market,” saidHenrik Höjsgaard, head of PostNord’s logistics business.

The businesses acquired from Bilfrakt had sales of around SEK1bn (€115m) in 2012, employ some280 staff and are industry leaders in northern Sweden in the mixed cargo, consignment goods andthermo segments, according to PostNord. They will consolidated into the group’s financial resultswith effect from June 12.

PostNord’s logistics businesses in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland had 2012 sales of SEK14.8bn (€1.7bn), representing more than a third of the group’s overall sales. PostNord is currentlydeveloping its logistics operations and further expanding its product portfolio in order to becomethe leading player in the Nordic logistics market.

In 2012, the postal group already acquired Green Cargo’s 3PL logistics operations, as wellas Norwegian logistics company Harlem Transport and major Norwegian thermo carrier Byrknes Auto.
