Irish firm BDA buys German niche express airline

Ireland-based logistics firm Bespoke Distribution Aviation Ltd (BDA) has acquired a FrankfurtAirport-based niche express airline to expand its services from continental Europe to Britain and

Ireland.

BDA has taken over both Nightexpress GmbH and sister company N.E. Night Express Limited, whichoperate weekday flights between Frankfurt and Coventry for small express deliveries from a range ofcustomers.

The company, launched seven years ago, said the acquisition would strengthen and extend itsinfrastructure and service propositions for air- and road-based supply chain solutions and deliveryservices from mainland Europe to the UK and Ireland. BDA has worked closely for several years withNightexpress, using its flights alongside other dedicated air-bridges and road linehaul routes toestablish service supply chain gateway offerings from Germany, the Benelux and France to the UK andIreland.

Steve Court, BDA’s sales & marketing director, said: “This acquisition is a logicalprogression within our business model that continues to strengthen our infrastructure and servicepropositions for all our clients.”

Yvonne Boag, managing director of Nightexpress, added: “Historically we have worked withindividual members of the BDA senior management team for half of our business years, and we arelooking forward to continuing with an even closer relationship within the BDA group of companies.We are excited by the new extended opportunities especially being able to add, further servicesthat BDA already have in their portfolio to those that we have offered for so many years out ofFrankfurt. This will provide all of our clients with an even greater number of service options todeliver their time-critical and express consignments, from Germany into the UK and Ireland”.

BDA (Bespoke Distribution Aviation) described itself as “the specialist provider” from mainlandEurope into the UK and Ireland, with daily connections from Germany, the Benelux and France fromits own freighters and and daily road line-hauls. The company offers a range of urgent,time-critical and day-definite delivery solutions, including B2C deliveries. Its client baseincludes firms from hi-tech IT and printing, medical equipment, materials handling equipment,agricultural machinery and direct selling e-commerce retail.

Founded in 1984, Nightexpress mbH operates two owned turbo-prop cargo aircraft SH 360 from itshome base at Frankfurt International Airport with five weekly night-time return flights toCoventry, in central England, for time-critical overnight shipments.
