GLS Germany has reduced the time window of its FlexDelivery-Service to one hour thus providingeven more convenience for customers who no longer to have to wait so long for their parcels to
arrive.Since launching FlexDelivery in September last year, GLS has been informing recipients beforestarting delivery rounds about the expected delivery time and the expected delivery time window.Depending on the destination, the company can now limit it further down to one hour.
“The GLS delivery time window is now between 1-4 hours. In densely populated delivery areas wecan give more accurate information,” Saadi Al-Soudani, GLS Germany director, said. “For mostaddresses, we can predict the delivery time to two hours.”
Informing recipients per e-mail about the expected delivery time window is part of theFlexDelivery-Service that GLS customers can use free of charge. The customer feedback has beenpositive so far. “The parcel recipients are thrilled about the information quality and theinteraction possibilities,” Al-Soudani continued.
Thanks to the advance notice, many recipients are either present when their parcel is beingdelivered or have pre-selected one of the available options, such as delivery to a chosen parcelshop or a preferred alternative delivery day.
“The conditions on the parcels market have changed rapidly due to e-commerce growth. With theFlexDelivery-Service, we have a comprehensive, efficient response to the issue of fast andconvenient delivery to private customers,” Al-Soudani concluded.
About 20-25% of GLS parcels in Germany, its largest market, are now destined for privaterecipients.
