Luxemburg Post, UPS, FedEx, DHL Global Mail, Russian Post and Spring Global Mail have made seniormanagerial appointments during April and May.
Hjordis Stahl (47) has been named the head of the postal operator P&TLuxembourg,succeeding Paul Peckels. As one of the few top female managers in the international logisticsindustry, she was previously managing director of Luxair Cargo and member of the ManagementCommittee of Luxair Group. She was formerly at Lufthansa Cargo. “This appointment fully fits withthe strategy to strengthen P&T’s position as an operator of reference on the fully liberalisedpostal market in Luxembourg since 1.1.2013 and to offer customer friendly as well as innovativeproducts and services,” the company explained. Luxembourg Post has some 3,650 staff and revenues ofabout €500 million.
At UPS, Jens Poggensee (51) has been named the new vice president of the company’s freightforwarding division in Europe. He will be responsible for the strategy, performance and revenuegrowth of UPS freight forwarding activities in more than 120 countries and territories in Europe,the Middle East, and Africa, reporting to Cindy Miller, the new president of UPS Europe, MiddleEast, and Africa. Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Poggensee has 32 years of experience in thetransport industry and has been employed in various management positions at UPS on regional andnational level since 2004 when UPS acquired Menlo Worldwide Forwarding. In his new role, Poggenseewill be based in Brussels, succeeding Terry Sambrook who has retired from his post.
In addition, George Willis has been named the new managing director for UPS UK, Ireland &Nordics, in place of Miller. In his new role, US-born Willis, who previously ran various districtsin the USA, will be responsible for operations, business development and strategy in the UK,Ireland and the Nordic countries of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Iceland. The UPS districtconstitutes a large, dynamic market stretching over northern Europe including more than 80operational centres, 11 air gateways and a workforce of more than 9,500 employees.
In Korea, UPS has appointed J.K. Rha, a former air export and package operations manager atthe company, as its new managing director. Rha joined the company in 1990 and has served in diversepositions in Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. He succeeds Steven Chang who has been appointed asvice president for global sales at UPS.
At FedEx, Patrick Fitzgerald has been appointed as senior vice president responsible forintegrated marketing and communications as part of the company reorganising some of itscommunications functions and creating an integrated communications and marketing team. Fitzgeraldtook on his new position in mid-April. He succeeds Bill Margaritis, who was corporate vicepresident for global communications and investor relations. In 2007, Fitzgerald joined FedEx Groundas communications director and was promoted to vice president of communications in 2011. Prior tothat, Fitzgerald was a VP at PR agency Ketchum, where he supported the FedEx account.
DHL Global Mail, the specialist for international mail and cross-border B2C parceldeliveries, has appointed Martin Mühlmann (41) as the new country manager in Austria. He isreplacing Robert Feichtenschlager who had led the Austrian subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL sinceits founding in 1998. Mühlmann brings along long-term experience in sales positions in Austria andabroad, and most recently as Key Account Manager. “I am looking forward to my new task within thecompany, especially as we are currently carrying out a challenging and promising expansion of ourproduct portfolio with the commercial launch of our shipping solutions for pan-European parceldeliveries,” Mühlmann said.
Tijs Reumerman was named the new CEO of Spring Global Mail succeeding Iain Mclure who willstep down from his role and leave the company. Currently the Managing Director of PostNLInternational Mail, Reumerman has a strong operational, commercial and international backgroundwithin PostNL Operations and Business functions. In the past, he has managed several PostNL sortingcentres. At Russian Post, Anvar Imametdinov was appointed as the new Deputy General Directormonitoring the departments of postal security, special services and state secret protection. Hewill also support the corporate interests of the company and staff and handle the issues of safetyand security of postal shipments, civil defence, etc. He succeeds Michail Romanchuk who left thecompany on 22 May.
