DHL Express builds operational hub at Bratislava Airport in Slovakia

DHL Express is building a new distribution hub at Bratislava Airport, Slovakia, in cooperation withPointPark Properties (P3), a pan-European warehouse asset manager and developer, responding to

business growth in the region.

With DHL Express considering Bratislava a strategic location for the Central European market,the new 3,400 sqm Build-to-Suit (BTS) facility will function as an operational hub for the city andthe surrounding regions.

The combined air/landside greenfield facility to be completed this summer will more thandouble DHL Express’s handling capacity in Bratislava. This extra capacity will be used to supportthe company’s rapidly expanding customer base in Slovakia and also serve as a strategic hub for itsoperations in Austria, Czech Republic (Moravia) and as a transit hub for the Balkans.

Daniela Mišurová, Country Manager DHL Express Slovakia, said: “We expect the air expressmarket in the CEE region and elsewhere to continue its long term expansion. The new BratislavaAirport hub, with its fully automated sorting equipment, will give DHL Express a greenfieldplatform for virtually unlimited growth and provide a more efficient service for our customers.”

The hub will incorporate a fully automated parcel sorting and handling system. Just 500metres away from the motorways that link Slovakia with the rest of the CEE region and Austria, itwill also have direct access to the airside at Bratislava Airport.

With a network of more than 4,700 offices and around120,000 destinations, DHL Express ships more international packages than any other internationalparcel delivery company.
