GeoPost subsidiary Exapaq goes global with DPD Classic Intercontinental

French parcel delivery company Exapaq has launched a new international service using its sistercompany DPD, targeting over 200 destinations worldwide, in response to its customers increasingly

expanding abroad.

DPD Classic Intercontinental expands on the previous DPD Classic Europe service, which theGeoPost subsidiary launched in 2006, with delivery times ranging from 2-8 working days (excludingcustoms clearance). It mainly covers most of North America, North Africa, Middle East and Chinawith deliveries taking two days and the whole of Australia taking four days.

Exapaq has signed up Air France/KLM for air transportation with all the parcels and documentsbeing transferred through the secure and mechanised GeoPost hub at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airportin Paris for control and customs clearance. “GeoPost relies on the dense and reliable air networkof its partner to guarantee very competitive transit times across the globe,” Exapaq explained.

After collecting parcels for export, Exapaq takes care of all operational aspects includingcustoms to ensure compliance of the transported goods with international regulations and those ofeach individual country as well as with the air security norms. The whole shipping process of theparcels includes at least eight scans with a tracking option at each delivery stage. All relatedinformation and the proof of delivery are provided at Exapaq’s website or via alerts.

As an additional advantage, DPD Classic Intercontinental offers a simplified tariff system percontinent and special rates for the top 15 destinations such as the USA, China, Russia, Indiaetc.

Exapaq CEO Mathieu Wintgens said: “The launch of DPD Classic Intercontinental is our response tothe expectations of many customers looking for a single provider to deliver all of their parcelseverywhere in the world.”

In line with the group’s pan-European carbon neutrality programme Total Zero launched last year,Exapaq’s CO2 emissions generated from its delivery services are compensated at no additional costsfor customers. In March this year, Exapaq added 10 electric vehicles to its fleet as part of itscommitment to Total Zero.

Created by a federation of 19 regional carriers in 1995, Exapaq was purchased by La Poste’sGeoPost Group in 2006. Today, the company has a network of 55 depots and six hubs and employs 1,800people delivering over 200,000 parcels per day. In 2012, it generated revenues worth €326million.
