FedEx has expanded its presence in Berlin with the opening of a second station in the district ofGrossbeeren.
The new station, which employs more than 20 staff, handles pickup and delivery of parcels,planning, as well as administrative tasks.
In March 2012, FedEx already opened a station in Berlin Neukölln with a total of 30employees. From both stations, customers can send shipments on their way to both European andintercontinental destinations.
The German capital is connected to FedEx’s Europe hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport inParis through four weekly flights, allowing customers from Berlin to send their express shipmentsto worldwide locations that generate 90 per cent of global GDP in just one or two business days.
In 2012, FedEx employed a total of 1,700 team members and operated some 300 vehicles inGermany. In 2010, the company opened its new Central and Eastern Europe hub at Cologne Bonnairport, which was formerly situated at Frankfurt Airport.
