Canada Post partners with e-retail platform provider Magento

Canada Post has announced an agreement with Magento, a leading global online retail softwareprovider, to integrate its services and create a convenient delivery and returns solution for

e-retailers.

Through the integration into Magento, a division of eBay’s X.commerce company that servesmore than 150,000 e-retailers, Canada Post will give online shops using Magento’s e-commerceplatform access to its shipping, delivery, tracking and returns services.

“Canada Post is taking another step to push e-commerce forward in Canada,” commented RenéDesmarais, Senior Vice-President for Parcels at Canada Post. “By integrating with leading retailplatform providers, we are enabling retailers to offer the most convenient end-to-end onlineshopping experience in a seamless manner.”

Key benefits of the integration into Magento include the ability to provide precise expecteddelivery dates and convenient delivery options including delivery to the Canadian post office ofchoice. Also, the solution enables private customers to track their orders directly on thee-retailer’s online store and to print out self-service return labels and it features automatedorder fulfilment by printing shipping labels directly within Magento.

Separately, Canada Post has launched an online address validation platform through apartnership with Postcode Anywhere to enable business customers to reduce costs due to incorrectaddresses and facilitate sending mail and parcels.

“Delays in payment receipt, parcel delivery failures and poor customer experiences can oftenbe the result of inaccurate address data,” commented Kerry Munro, President of the Digital DeliveryNetwork at Canada Post. “The highly intuitive user interface of AddressComplete enables businessesto close those gaps and enhance their customer experience and reduce costs in their web andcustomer contact environments.”

AddressComplete allows customers to validate and complete addresses using the most accurateand up to date source of address data in Canada. The service, which mainly targets major mailers,retailers and e-retailers, as well as government organisations, is offered on a pay-per-usesubscription basis, making it affordable to businesses of all sizes. It can be integrated into acompany’s website or any application with a network connection including point of sale systems,call centre programmes, and proprietary systems.
