UPS has launched a partnership with the German association of medium-sized businesses DeutscherMittelstands-Bund (DMB), granting the association’s members access to UPS’s transport network at
favourable conditions. The DMB, an independent association of SMEs, was founded in 1982 and currently has some 14,000members throughout Germany.
“Good customer service does not end after the customer placed his order but requires quick andcustomer-friendly delivery including all related services. With UPS, we have won a world-leadinglogistics company as our partner who grants our members all the advantages of up-to-date logistics– at favourable member conditions. This benefits all self-employed persons, people carrying on atrade as well as companies – start-ups, eBay powersellers and every other German-based company thatis a member of our association,” said Marc Tenbieg, the DMB’s managing director.
Both partners have set themselves the goal of informing SMEs that well organised logistics is asignificant competitive advantage in both national and international competition.
“German medium-sized businesses are important customers for us. With the DMB we have a strongpartner association who knows what this target group requires and who pools its members’ interests. We are looking forward to this cooperation and want to be a reliable partner for all SMEs with ourparcel and freight services,” said Thomas Schlichting, spokesperson for UPS Germany.
UPS’s partnership with the DMB can also be seen as a further step into the booming German B2Cmarket. The company will also target this segment more intensively through a ‘UPS Access Point’network which is planned to start in Germany this summer and expand to some 4,000 locations by nextyear.
