UPS and electronic solutions provider Jabil optimise reverse logistics services

UPS has signed a strategic partnership with the electronic product solutions company Jabil toprovide optimised reverse logistics solutions for return and repair programmes to high-tech

original equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprises on a global scale.

UPS’s logistics and distribution unit will contribute to the cooperation with itswarehousing, transportation, returns management and trade compliance capabilities while Jabil’sAftermarket Services division will provide reverse logistics planning, repair and call centresupport. These competences combined provide a turn-key supply chain model driving efficiencies,reducing vendor complexity and enhancing customer service, UPS explained.

Supported by Jabil’s and UPS’s integrated systems and capabilities, the partnership providesflexible service models responding to customer return and repair demands. This includes offeringhigh-tech companies access to strategically-located repair and distribution facilities near theircustomer base. The combined network of UPS and Jabil comprises 1.8 million UPS pick-up and drop-offlocations in 147 countries and 55 Jabil service centres in 21 countries.

The joint UPS/Jabil reverse logistics portfolio includes: order fulfilment, next and sameday transportation, returns processing, whole unit and component repair, assembly, procurement andvendor management, planning and inventory funding. Additional services are call centre and techsupport, trade compliance and the use of The UPS Store locations for product pick-up or drop-off.
