TNT Romania opens new international express hub in Timisoara

TNT Express has opened a new hub near Timisoara international airport in western Romania to offercustomers in the region direct air and road connections and necessary facilities.



The company said the new express hub plays an important role as a regional coordinator oflocal and national connections as the Road Management Centre for Eastern Europe within the EuropeanRoad Network. It is strategically located less than 1 km from the airport, near the city’sring-road.

The hub will process both domestic and International shipments with a storage space of 1,200sqm. The access to the storage area is secured with 22 docking areas for vans, 7 truck platformsfor the vehicles of TNT European Road Network as well as a dedicated platform for air shipments.

The facility features special spaces reserved for dangerous goods and high-value productswhich is especially relevant for clients in industries such as automotive, electronics andhigh-tech and medical – pharmaceutical sector. TNT Romania claimed it is the only company in thelocal market providing express delivery of such goods.

Western Romania has developed as a major logistics area with 24 per cent of the top 100exporters in the automotive sector being located in the regions. The area around Timisoara isconsidered very attractive in terms of shipping to Central and Eastern Europe from Eastern Asia,TNT added.
