DHL Express UK opens new £1.5m service centre in Oxford

DHL Express UK has opened a new service centre in Oxford to manage an increase in exportingvolumes in the area.

The express operator has invested £1.5 million (€1.75 million) into the 35,144 sq ft (3,265 sqm)site in order to manage the region’s growing demand for export and import express carriage. The newsite will create 54 jobs in the Oxford area.

Phil Couchman, CEO of DHL Express UK & Ireland, opened the site earlier this month alongsidelocal MP Ed Vaizey, who attended to get an insight into the express business.

Vaizey, Cabinet minister and MP for Wantage and Didcot, commented: “I was delighted to attendthe opening of the new DHL Oxford service centre. DHL offers an outstanding global connection, andthe new centre will help support international trade, whilst benefiting local jobs and the economy.This is great news for local residents and customers, as they can benefit from the service centrethrough means such as the drop off and collection of overseas deliveries.”

The new centre offers international services and provides the core DHL service centre offeringsof drop off and collection of goods for delivery overseas. It has the most efficient operationalprocesses and equipment, and is also equipped with the latest technology and up to date mechanicalhandling equipment.
