Leading German premium freight provider IN tIME Express Logistik has rebranded the newlyacquired and successfully integrated LTE Transport GmbH to IN tIME Thermo Sprint with effect from 1
February.IN tIME took over LTE, a family business specialised in urgent deliveries of pharmaceuticalproducts founded in 1980, in August last year. The core business of IN tIME Thermo Sprint remainsessentially temperature-controlled transport of urgent drugs and pharmaceutical shipments.
With the rebranding, the base of LTE in Bubbingen near Freiburg, southern Germany, becomes acompetence centre of cooling logistics within the group with the former LTE staff of 20 employeesand a fleet of 21 own vehicles continuing to operate at the site.
By incorporating and renaming LTE, IN tIME said it has created the basis for expanding itsactivities in south-western Germany and Switzerland to several European countries. “With the newbrand IN tIME Thermo Sprint, we emphasise that it is a separate business for transportingtemperature-sensitive shipments,” IN tIME Managing Director Gerd Röttger said. “At the same time,it reflects that this area has become part of our extensive network with corresponding synergies inprocess design, planning and IT.”
With its team of 20 employees and 21 vehicles, Thermo Sprint has already largely adjusted to therequirements of the revised EU directive Good Distribution Pratice (GDP). The new European standardfor temperature-controlled transportation places higher requirements on big forwarding companiesand carriers.
“It is becoming obvious that large forwarders and shippers will transport their goods only withGDP-certified carriers in future,” Röttger added. The qualification for GDP with the remainingtrials during transportation under high outdoor temperatures is due to be completed for the entirefleet this summer.
