DPD has shipped racing skis and equipment for the ski giant Atomic on the occasion of the 42ndSki World Championships, which started on Wednesday in Schladming in south-east Austria.
Atomic expects the event to have a positive effect on business, above all on the sales of racingskis. According to the company, sporting goods retailers in the Austrian region have also madeextensive preparations for the World Championships leading to improved sales on a regional basis, too. The Ski World Championships take place every two years in a different country.
“The fact that this time French, Italian, German and Scandinavian competitors are once more incontention for medals in addition to the usual suspects, the Austrians, the Swiss and theAmericans, means that an enormous public will be sharing the excitement of the competition with theathletes,” said Rainer Schwarz, head of DPD Austria. He believes that this will increase enthusiasmfor skiing as a sport and accordingly raise international demand for skis and accessories.
In addition to supplying around 780 dealers in Austria, DPD is also responsible for theinternational shipping of Atomic’s products. “DPD’s fast international delivery times are animportant factor for Atomic, and one of the many reasons why the company has been shipping with DPDfor many years now,” Schwarz added. Within Austria alone, Atomic ships at least 45,000 parcels ayear with DPD and a further 197,000 parcels for the international market.
Based in Salzburg, Atomic has been relying on DPD’s logistics operations since 1989 for shippingits skis, ski boots, bindings and accessories. The long-lasting partnership with Atomic isreinforced by the fact that the DPD Austria’s depot in Flachau is very close to Atomic’sheadquarters at Altenmarkt in the Pongau district.
