PostNord has strengthened its position in the growing Norwegian logistics market by todayfinalising the acquisition of certain assets of temperature-controlled transport firm Byrknes Auto
AS.Byrknes Auto is one of Norway’s largest thermo carriers and offers services mainly for fish andgrocery transportation. In 2011, it generated sales worth NOK 294 million (€40 million) employingaround 100 staff. The business will be included in PostNord’s accounts as of February 1, 2013 as apart of the Logistics division.
“We are happy to welcome customers and employees to the Nordic region’s leading communicationand logistics operator. The acquisition further strengthens PostNord’s position in the growingNorwegian logistics market,” said Henrik Höjsgaard, Head of Business Area Logistics atPostNord.
In all, PostNord’s logistics operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland had sales ofapproximately SEK 13 billion (€1.5 billion) in 2011. Operations are focused on parcel, pallet,express and third-party logistics.
In Norway, PostNord’s logistics operations are run through Tollpost Globe AS, one of thecountry’s three largest logistics companies with NOK 2.7 billion (€360 million) in sales in 2011.With 900 employees and 700 drivers at 29 branches, the Oslo-based company handles around 60,000parcels every day.

PostNord last September acquired Norwegian logistics company Harlem Transport, which focuses onconsumer goods, industry, shipping, and recycling and waste. Harlem Transport generated sales ofNOK 292 million (€39 million) in 2011.
