In addition, trans-o-flex will also take overthe Europe-wide distribution of MediaRange’s products.

“The package solution provided by trans-o-flex made it possible for us to significantly simplifyour logistics processes,” Markus Speer, Managing Director of MediaRange, said. “The new location isclearly more favourable for both our procurement and distribution logistics.”

Since 80% of MediaRange’s products are forwarded in sea containers to the ports of Rotterdam andAntwerp, the transportation to the trans-o-flex logistic centre in Frechen is much faster than itwas the case with the previous provider. “Thanks to the new solution, many customers will receive shipments up to 24 hours earlier thanbefore,” said Oliver Rupps, spokesman of the Management Board of the trans-o-flex Logistics Group. “ In addition to the geographical advantage, we have optimised shipment handling processes withshort distances within the warehouse – not to forget the fast cross-docking processes, with goodsimported directly from the sea containers into trans-o-flex’s European distribution network.”

Apart from the cross-docking of particularly urgent shipments, the employees of trans-o-flexLogistik-Service in Frechen unload the arriving containers. They palletise CDs, DVDs, Blue-rayDiscs, USB sticks, SD cards as well as toner cartridges, photo paper, cables, batteries, accessories and packaging materials and store them in a high-level rack on some 1,500 pallets.

Orders from MediaRange are transmitted directly to the warehouse administration system oftrans-o-flex by means of a data line, thus automatically initiating the order-specific picking andpacking. The service also includes the examination and handling of returns as well as thepreparation of customs documents for shipments into countries outside the EU.
