Canada’s Purolator expands in US with new branches

Purolator International is targeting the rising trade between the US and Canada with the openingof new regional offices across the USA.

The US company, a subsidiary of Canada Post-owned express parcels firm Purolator, opened sevennew branches last year and plans three more in the first quarter of this year.

The new locations will be in Columbus, Newark and Phoenix. In 2012 regional offices were openedin Baltimore, Charlotte, Denver, Indianapolis, Pittsburg, San Diego and St. Louis, giving it 26offices across the country.

The company’s on-going addition of regional office expansions is indicative of the surge indemand for logistics experience and expertise in transporting goods between the United States andCanada. Purolator International specialises in the air and surface forwarding of Express,Freight and Parcel shipments, customs brokerage, and fulfillment and delivery services to, from andwithin Canada.

A recent survey by international business consultants AlixPartners found that 42% of seniorexecutives have already taken steps to near-shore manufacturing operations or plan to do so withinthe next three years. 

According to the company, US goods and services trade with Canada already totalled over $680billion in 2011, with exports of $337 billion and imports worth $343 billion.
