SingPost signs up Korea's CJ GLS

Singapore Post has signed a cooperation agreement with South Korea’s CJ GLS, stepping up itsAsian partnerships after a deal with Japan Post late last year.

CJ GLS said that under a memorandum of understanding the two companies would share theirlogistics networks and develop new business activities. The Korean firm expects to use SingPost’snetwork covering 10 countries in Asia. In particular, deliveries from South Korea to Singapore willbe sped up by 1-2 days through the partnership.

CJ GLS, which is due to merge with larger sister company CJ Korea Express in April, has expandedits international activities significantly in recent years, with own branches, cooperationagreements with Aramex and EMS China and diverse other partnerships.

For Singapore Post, the deal opens up new links with one of Asia’s most dynamic economies andfollows an agreement with Japan Post in December.

Under that deal, Japan Post has launched an international delivery service for Japanese onlineretailers using SingPost logistics subsidiary Quantium Solutions, which provides storage, pickingand packing and other services at its Tokyo warehouse. Once orders are ready for export, they aretransported and delivered by Japan Post using the international mail network.
