Fast-growing Polish InPost is further expanding its presence in Latin America through anagreement with the Brazilian logistics operator Sequoia Group for 100 easyPack parcel terminals to
be installed in the third quarter of 2013 and a total of 500 in the medium-term.As part of the partnership with Sequoia Group signed by InPost’s parent company Integer.plGroup, the introduction of the first 100 machines will follow several months of piloting.
The Brazilian contract follows the partnership with Correos de Chile as the first country inLatin America where InPost started implementing its easyPack terminals. Apart from Brazil andChile, its international network already covers Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Spain, Cyprus,Slovakia, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Australia and the Czech Republic.
InPost highlighted Brazil’s rapid development in e-commerce with high growth potential. Between2006 and 2011, the country’s growth rate in e-commerce amounted to 19% clearly exceeding the globalaverage of 13%. Such a dynamic development of online shopping is possible thanks to the 80 millioninternet users spending $10.6 billion annually which is the highest rate in Latin America, InPostexplained. According to experts, this figure will increase to $18.7 billion by 2017.
With Brazil as a target market in 2013, Integer.pl hopes to expand its partnership with SequoiaGroup in the following years. In Post added that two large Brazilian e-commerce partners haveexpressed interest in using its easyPack services. Moreover, the group has also obtained theconsent of several shopping centres to deploy the Polish machines there.
Sequoia Group is one of the leading local logistics and transport companies with a focus one-commerce providing delivery services to major Brazilian players in this segment, includingNova.com, Comprafacil.com, Magazine Luiza, Ricardo Eletro / Insinuante.
“The easyPack by InPost development strategy covers the countries with the greatest potential ine-commerce. Therefore, Brazil had to appear on our expansion map. This is the second country in theworld that has recorded the most dynamic growth in e-commerce industry. Only China has betterindicators,” Rafal Brzoska, CEO of Integer.pl Group, said.
Brzoska pointed out that Brazilians still face some logistical problems despite booming onlineshopping. “Therefore, it is a great opportunity to offer our revolutionary solutions. Theimprovement in delivery services for e-shopping will definitely contribute to even higher growth ofthe Brazilian e-commerce industry.”
Following the first 28 parcel terminals installed in Chile since 2011, the Integer.pl Grouplaunched the second stage of the contract in December 2012. By the end of 2013, it will launchanother 32 machines there with the aim to install a few hundred in total in the country.Simultaneously, Correos de Chile also became the easyPack distribution partner in South America oneyear after signing the contract.
By the end of March 2013, the Group plans to deploy 100 easyPack machines in the Czech Republic,and 50 machines in Slovakia. In April last year, InPost sealed a €108 million deal with theinternational finance group PineBridge Investments to finance its ambitious plan to roll out 16,000parcel terminals across Europe in the next four years.
By 2013, Integer.pl plans to spend PLN 320 million (€77.5 million) on the development of itseasyPack services. The international expansion project with PineBridge Investments is valued atapproximately €300 million.
