French logistics operator ID Logistics acquires France Paquets

French freight logistics group ID Logistics has acquired the parcel services provider FrancePaquets to expand its e-commerce activities and compete with other parcel operators on the domestic

market.

A contract logistics specialist, ID Logistics offers a complete range of logistics services forcustomers’ supply chain. The company, with sales of €462 million in 2011, has over 9,000 employeesand a wide network of 100 sites in 12 countries including over 2 million sqm of warehousingfacilities in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.

France Paquets employs some 60 staff in France with revenues worth around €10 million. Its hubat Aulnay-Sous-Bois, on the north-eastern edge of Paris, processes up to 300,000 parcels a dayunder service agreements with various partners, notably ColiPoste, as well as companies such asArvato, STPP (Lagardère group) and Tessi.

France Paquets offers delivery services both for the B2B and B2C sectors. The companyfacilitates delivery to end-customer in logistics terms through establishing standard batches ofparcels “ready for distribution” and in financial terms through reducing the costs of preparingdelivery routes in advance.

ID Logistics stressed that along with a multi-channel e-commerce business with customers such asAlinea.fr, Auchan.fr and GrosBill, it has acquired an attractive logistics system for pure playerinternet operators and advertising specialists.
