UK logistics company Crossflight buys courier operator DDI Worldwide

British distribution company Crossflight has acquired DDI Worldwide, a London-based provider ofinternational courier deliveries, forming a solid logistics joint venture in the UK.

Crossflight said that the acquisition of DDI Worldwide is part of its expansion strategy. “Thisimportant acquisition not only allows us to grow our business further, but also increases ourpresence in the courier industry. We believe it is essential to provide customers with a strong,independent alternative to the large carriers. With this strength comes agility and enhancedcustomer choice and service delivery,” Richard Stoughton, Managing Director of Crossflight,said.

Established 25 years ago, Crossflight offers a wide range of delivery services includinginternational express, UK Overnight, Sameday, international and domestic mail, mail fulfillment,storage, pick and pack, and distribution management.

Launched in 1983, DDI Worldwide provides an online booking system for single shipments with theapplication available worldwide to nominated users, an e-pouch to send multiple packages to severalconsignees at one time and a Multi-ship distribution software to multiple addresses. The companyalso offers weekend collections with Monday deliveries to many destinations in the UK, Europe andthe USA.

“The combined company will be a significant independent force in the industry,” Nick Lyne,Managing Director of DDI, added. The move will be seamless for DDI clients, largely due toCrossflight’s sophisticated in-house IT systems, which will bring the two companies together.

Lyne said that the acquisition enables greater buying power and efficiencies and a freeze ofcurrent tariffs until at least 2014, improvements in customers’ online systems and a widerportfolio of services including storage and fulfillment.
