TNT Express rang in 2013 early with the successful transportation of a new bell for Notre DameCathedral in Paris just before Christmas.

The world-famous landmark will receive nine new church bells ready for its upcoming 850thbirthday celebration this year.

The largest bell, named Marie, was forged in the Netherlands in September 2012 by RoyalEijsbouts, one of the few foundries who can meet the required sound quality standards. With aweight of 6.5 tonnes and a diameter of 2.06 metres, the massive bell is made from a total of 850bronze bricks weighing 10 kilos each.

On December 20-21, TNT transported ‘Cloche Marie’ from Asten in the Netherlands to theFrench foundry company Cornille-Harvard in Villedieu-les-Poêles. The new bell will later beinstalled in the cathedral’s south tower.
