UPS is broadening its international express portfolio with a new guaranteed door-to-door freightdelivery service that it claims will be faster than competitor offerings.
The new UPS Worldwide Express Freight service is targeted at urgent, time-sensitive andhigh-value international heavyweight shipments enabling customers to ship pallets over 150 lbs (68kgs) exclusively within UPS’s global air network from 37 origins to 41 destination countries andterritories. The service is a step-up from the previous Air Freight service, which offereddelivery of freight to airports in destination countries.
UPS said the guaranteed, day-definite, door-to-door service features some of the fastest timesin transit in the industry. These include overnight shipping to the US from Europe, Asia Pacificand the Americas, and two-day shipping to Europe from Asia Pacific, the United States, and theAmericas.

Customers, particularly in the industrialmanufacturing, automotive, high-tech, retail and healthcare segments, have asked us for the samefeatures for their urgent freight shipments.”
The new service is an extension of the UPS Worldwide Express package portfolio and offerscustomers a seamless experience between shipping express package and express freight, UPS said. TheUPS Worldwide Express Freight service offers many of the same features as UPS’s Worldwide Expresspackage service, including automated shipment preparation, online tracking and proactivenotification technology. In addition, both express freight and package shipments are consolidatedinto one bill.
In comparison, rival FedEx Express offers an ‘International Priority Freight’ service forshipments between 68kgs and 1,000 kgs, with a choice of delivery to airport or door. From the USthe service covers more than 130 countries and territories with transit times of 1-3 days. InEurope, the service offers transit times of 1-2 days to the US and Canada and 2-4 days to Asia.
