German express operator GO! puts up prices from 1 February 2013

German express operator GO! has announced price increases of 4.8 per cent on average for domesticand international shipments with effect from 1 February 2013.



This move follows the announcements of upcoming price increases next year by other Germanlogistics operators including DHL Express, DPD and GLS.

GO! explained that it needs to adjust its rates after a year of price stability in responseto external cost increases resulting from new legal requirements and considerably higher labourcosts. These are due to the noticeable lack of skilled workers and drivers, contributing to risingwages. The costs for energy, insurances and purchase prices of capital goods have also risen.

GO! managing director Ulrich Nolte explained: “We offer our customers tailor-made solutionsand a continuously high service and transport quality. To keep this promise on a daily basis, wealso need to adjust the prices.”

With its shipping volumes further increasing, GO! is investing especially in IT projects, theexpansion of its operational sites and in the education and training of its employees.

Over the last few months, GO! has relaunched its brand with a revised logo, a new sloganclaiming ‘Time Is Everything’ and a new internet presence responding to changing customer needs,extended target groups and growing market requirements.

Founded as a consortium of 15 regional courier and express operators, GO! General Overnighthas 1,400 employees, over 3,000 couriers and more than 100 GO! stations in Germany and Europe witha global network of partners. The express operator serves over 77,000 customers.
