DHL Freight has opened a new office in Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan and its largestcity, to offer direct transport routes to the key logistic hubs of Europe, Russia and China.
With this move, DHL is expanding its existing business in Kazakhstan and its internationalroad freight network optimising the flow of goods between these markets.
“This new transit point makes it possible to serve our customers even faster – not only inEurope, Russia and China but also in Kazakhstan itself. At the same time, this investment willcontribute to further economic growth of this country playing the key role as the access point toCentral Asia,” Stefano Arganese, CEO of DHL Freight Central Eastern Southern Europe & Americas,Middle East, Africa, explained.
The new DHL Freight facility is strategically located in the middle of a fast-growingindustrial area close to Almaty. It is connected to the two major transport routes – the TransportCorridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACEA) and the Greater Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD).
The new office offers a full range of logistic services, including bonded warehousing andcustoms brokerage services as well as online tracking, registration and maintenance of goods via awarehouse management system. Services available at the container terminal include cross-docking,shunting and crane services as well as customs and bonded storage.
In the beginning of last year, DHL Freight started offering enhanced road freight services toGeorgia by expanding its successful DHL Euroconnect product to the country as part of its Europeanexpansion and strategy to bolster profitable growth in new markets. In 2010, it already expandedits Euroconnect service to Morocco and Tunisia.
