GLS has provided logistics support for the European Film Awards which took place in Malta on 1December as the official logistics partner of the European Film Academy (EFA).
The parcel operator transported the female silver statuettes which represent the Europeanequivalent of the “Oscars” safely to Malta and delivered them after the ceremony and engraving tothe homes of the stars.
The prize winners are selected, except for the audience prize and honorary award, by the 2,700members of the EFA including filmmakers from all over Europe. GLS already delivered a DVD packagewith more than 40 nominated movies to each of them in September.
GLS brought the silver statuettes from the London jeweller Theo Fennell to Malta’s capitalValetta on time for the awards ceremony, which was taking place for the 25th year in a row. At thispoint, the statuettes were not yet engraved, as the names of the winners were due to be announcedon the evening of the ceremony. The organisers gave the statuettes to GLS after the event totransport them to London for engraving. About three weeks after the ceremony, GLS will ship thetrophies with a personal engraving to the winners’ doorstep.

The European film prizes were awarded to actors, directors, producers and other filmmakers in atotal of 17 categories. The film “Amour” scooped four awards in the categories best film, bestdirector, best actor and best actress. Artists from over 10 countries were honoured with the prizewhile Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci gained the Lifetime Achievement Award.
