Hermes UK has invested several million pounds in more than 100 new vehicles to expand itsoperational capacity and optimise its fleet’s fuel efficiency.
The new vehicles, including 86 vans and 14 truck tractors, will help Hermes UK to cope withgrowing parcel volumes. The vans, a mix of 7.5-tonne, 12-tonne and 18-tonne vehicles, will bestationed at the company’s depots whose number has been significantly expanded this year.
Meanwhile, the new truck tractors have been added to Hermes’ trucking operation that collectsshipments from customer sites and also handles distribution within the firm’s own hub and depotnetwork.
Both the new vans and trucks will be equipped with automatic gearboxes and aerodynamic bodiesfor improved fuel efficiency. This forms part of Hermes’ sustainability measures to cut CO2emissions and achieve optimal operating performance.
