DHL Express France has opened a new facility in Reims, in the Champagne-Ardenne region ofnorth-eastern France, to ensure deliveries of champagne can be made within France and worldwide in
time for the peak Christmas period.Located in Cormontreuil on the outskirts of Reims, about 130km from Paris, the facility isexpected to improve the service quality offered to customers in the Marne department and Ardennesregion with numerous big champagne producers.
With the capacity to handle 300 parcels per day (nearly 3 tonnes of freight), the new 650 sqmdepot is equipped with a fully automated sorting chain responding to the growing domestic parcelvolumes mainly driven by the booming e-commerce. It also has a wifi scanning system foridentification of parcels in real time in the warehouse and instant tracking of customer shipments.The facility employs 17 staff and provides 50 sqm office space.
Between mid-November and mid-January, the Reims facility expects to have handled over 1,000champagne shipments in total. Most of its activities are focused on the Marne region with eightdelivery routes effected on a daily basis and three daily routes in the Ardennes region.
