British same-day courier company CitySprint has completed the latest in a long series ofacquisitions with the takeover of Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers.
The courier firm announced that it has acquired Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers, based inWoking, Surrey, and founded in 1998. Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers will be integrated intoCitySprint, which currently employs 2,000 couriers and operates a network of 35 UK service centres.
With numerous acquisitions during recent years, CitySprint has pressed ahead with itsexpansion course and has secured considerable market shares in the UK same-day sector. After thetakeovers of Jaguar Couriers and The Dot Courier in 2009, Post Haste Group, Goldstar Couriers andRoad Runners in 2010 and TnM Couriers, Mainlink Courier Services , Airlink Worldwide, Lewis Day andMedical Services in 2011, CitySprint also acquired Scarlet Couriers in July this year.
Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive of CitySprint, said “This deal is another important stepin CitySprint’s on-going growth strategy. We’re delighted to be increasing our presence in Wokingand tapping into Eagle Express’s local knowledge.”
