FedEx Express is expanding its operations in Canada by adding capacity on its daily flightsbetween Memphis and Edmonton, capital of Alberta.
From next January, the company will deploy a wide-bodied Airbus 310 on the route, which is flownMonday to Friday, instead of the Boeing 757 that is currently used. This will increase cargocapacity by more than 1600 cubic feet, or an additional 20,000 kg of daily freight over theexisting volume.
FedEx Express said its A310 will be the only wide-bodied all-cargo airplane committed to dailyflights in and out of Edmonton International Airport (EIA). Businesses in Northern Alberta wouldbenefit from greater connectivity with markets around the world with the additional inbound andoutbound air cargo capacity, it added.
“FedEx Express Canada has tremendous confidence in the economy of Northern Alberta,” said LisaLisson, president of FedEx Express Canada. “This upgrade in cargo capacity signifies to allbusinesses and consumers our determination to provide industry-leading convenience and connectivitybetween Edmonton and the rest of the world.”
Customers shipping from Edmonton will continue to benefit from the FedEx suite of shippingsolutions such as FedEx International Priority (IP), and FedEx International Priority Freight (IPF)as well as next-business-day delivery and two-business-day delivery respectively, the companyadded.
