GLS launches ShopDelivery service in Austria

GLS ParcelShop

GLS is now offering Austrians the choice of having their parcels delivered to one of 600ParcelShops for collection to make internet shopping more convenient.

The European parcels operator has extended its ShopDelivery Service to Austria in order toprovide customers who are not at home during standard delivery hours with a comfortable deliverysolution. The service, available in Germany since 2010, lets recipients select one of the country’s600 ParcelShops as the destination for incoming deliveries.

Once the parcels arrive in the desired ParcelShop, recipients are notified by email or SMSand can pick it up for a period of nine days. This allows for more flexibility on the side of therecipients and aims to reduce the number of delivery attempts for GLS.

ShopDelivery is available to ecommerce retailers who have integrated GLS’s ParcelShoplocator into their online trade platform. Upon making their order, the retailers’ customers canchoose their preferred GLS ParcelShop for later pickup of the delivery – for instance, at alocation on their way home from work.

“During the day, many private recipients are difficult to reach at home but pass a GLSParcelShop while running their daily errands. The new ShopDelivery-Service is the most comfortableoption for them to receive their parcels,” said Klaus Schädle, Managing Director Europe South atGLS. “When selecting our shops which are integrated into kiosks, petrol stations and other stores,we look out for long opening hours and good reachability.”
