Canada Post

Canada Post has launched a new e-commerce product line for retailers that are interested inintegrating its services into their online shop or customer application, to provide more

convenience to online shoppers.

The new Canada Post Web Services enable retailers to provide more choice to customers includingalternative pickup options, tracking capabilities, shipping rates and return labels.

One of the features is a ‘delivery to post office’ option, in which shoppers can choose to pickup their orders at one of the 6,500 Canada Post outlets spread across the country. In addition, online shoppers can look up in real time the shipping rates on goods they purchase prior tocheckout. They can also get real-time tracking updates with information on shipping, processing anddelivery status, and download and print a return label directly from the site where they made theirpurchase.

These new e-commerce web services, which Canada Post called ‘groundbreaking’, are provided forfree. Retailers can, therefore, decide themselves how Canada Post data are integrated into theire-commerce system, where in the business process they get applied, and how they are presented tocustomers. “This flexibility enables retailers to cater the service to the specific needs of theircustomers,” the postal operator stressed.

René Desmarais, Senior Vice-President for Parcels at Canada Post, said: “This is a three-waywin. Consumers benefit from a superior end-to-end shopping experience. Retailers can better satisfytheir customers. And services like this encourage Canadians to shop on Canadian sites – which iskey to developing a globally competitive digital economy.”
