Geodis Calberson UK signs logistics contract with automotive parts supplier

Parcels and freight operator Geodis Calberson has signed a contract with the automotive partsmanufacturer Sogefi to manage its warehousing operations and product distribution across the UK and

Ireland.

The Italian supplier of original and aftermarket parts for the automotive industry has twoplants in Wales producing air, fuel, oil and cabin filters. As part of the deal, Geodis Calbersonreceives products from Sogefi’s site in Wales and from central stock in Europe. From its logisticssite at Magna Park in East Midlands, Geodis then manages stock-holding and same day order pickingand dispatch for Sogefi.

Orders are delivered next day across the UK, through Geodis’ wholly-owned subsidiary, theFortec Distribution Network, and a parcel carrier sharing the workload.

Andrea Taschini, General Manager of Sogefi Aftermarket Division, said: “Geodis, anestablished provider to the Sogefi Aftermarket Division in Europe with a proven ability to achievehigh levels of delivery performance and distribution support, is now operating our aftermarket nextday delivery service from a modern, future-ready distribution centre located at Lutterworth, EastMidlands.”

Sogefi will benefit from a new Warehouse Management System introduced by Geodis Calberson atMagna Park which tracks goods and orders from the moment they arrive with an upgradedRadiofrequency tagging process. Covering inbound, storage, picking and quality checking, the RFprocess provides perfect visibility on productivity and order accuracy, Geodis explained.

Geodis Calberson UK employs more than 350 people at 11 locations providing total coverage inthe UK through the Fortec Distribution Network.
