DHL Express signs strategic partnership with Empost

DHL Express today announced a strategic partnership with Empost, the express delivery division ofUAE-based Emirates Post Group Holding (EPGH), becoming its Official Logistics Partner.



Under the agreement, all of Empost’s international shipments will be handled and deliveredby DHL Express. In a second phase, the two companies will cooperate in the retail sector in the UAEwhere Emirates Post/Empost has 125 retail outlets.

The partnership also includes DHL training for Empost employees, as well as further strategicdevelopments for both companies in the future.

The partnership marks a strategic change for Empost which has some 900 staff and a fleet ofsome 600 vehicles in the UAE. Several years ago the express operator had planned to expandinternationally itself but was forced to scale back these ambitions due to the impact of theeconomic crisis in the region.

Today’s announcement follows a special signing ceremony at DHL offices in Dubai on October10 which was attended by Frank-Uwe Ungerer, Country Manager for DHL Express in the UAE, and SultanAl Midfa, Chief Executive Officer for Empost.

Commenting on the signing, Ungerer said: “Our partnership with Empost is a perfect fit thatsupports our active commitment to collaborate with local businesses and nurture the UAE’s growthacross the courier services industry. Sultan Al Midfa added: “The partnership with DHL Express is a long term strategy to supportour business and future developments. Our selection of DHL Express was made due to their longhistory in the UAE market and their global presence.

“Under the agreement, Empost will have an electronic link with DHL to enable tracking ofparcels through the Empost website. We have a plan to upgrade the skills of our employees byleveraging the DHL experience. This partnership will be particularly beneficial to our clients withinternational requirements,” he added.
