PostNL has announced a price increase for standard letters in the Netherlands and Europe cominginto effect on 1 January 2013.
As part of the changes, the basic rate for domestic letters sent within the Netherlands willincrease by four cents to €0.54 while the stamp price for European mail will go up to €0.90 whichequals an increase of €0.05.
In addition, the rate for the December stamp will be increased to €0.40, as previously announcedat the end of 2011.
For franking machines, the basic rate for letters within the Netherlands will increase by threeeuro-cents. For bulk mail, the rate change differs per product, but there will be an increase ofaround 5%, on average.
The company stressed that its postage rates are still among the lowest in Europe despite theupcoming changes, according to the European letter price survey for 2012.
PostNL processes 8.7 billion addressed postal items including 106 million parcels each yeardelivering in the Benelux, Germany, the UK and Italy. Its main businesses include mail, parcels ande-commerce.
